White Serenity is the gentlest of our Xiao Qing Gan family — a whole green Xinhui tangerine stuffed with aged white tea (shou mei). The lightest caffeine, the softest body, and a slow-release cup that flows from citrus to honeyed warmth across the session. The only product of its kind worldwide.

Aged white tea mellows naturally over time — both in caffeine (5–15mg per cup for >5-year aged) and in flavour, developing honeyed, slightly medicinal depth. Paired with the citrus oils of Xinhui tangerine peel, the result is something uniquely suited to evenings, wind-downs, or drinkers who find even oolong too assertive.

Flavour: Tangerine peel upfront, honeyed aged white tea, soft stone-fruit sweetness
Aroma: Dried citrus, aged hay, subtle blossom
Caffeine: Low (aged white tea base — lowest in the Xiao Qing Gan family)
Pairs well with: Evenings, quiet reading, slow conversations

How to brew: 90–95°C water, 5-second rinse, 1–2 minutes first infusion. Re-steeps 5–7 times. Unlike pu-erh variants, white tea extracts slower, so give it a bit more time per brew.

White Serenity is the Xiao Qing Gan for sensitive sleepers, caffeine-cautious drinkers, and anyone who wants the ritual without the stimulation. For the caffeine profile breakdown across our Xiao Qing Gan range, see our brewing guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes White Serenity different from other Xiao Qing Gan?

White Serenity uses aged white tea (shou mei) as the base instead of the traditional pu-erh. It has the lowest caffeine of any Xiao Qing Gan we stock (roughly 5–15mg per cup for the aged white), the softest body, and a slower, gentler extraction. It's the Xiao Qing Gan for evenings, sensitive sleepers, and drinkers who find pu-erh too earthy. No other brand worldwide produces Xiao Qing Gan with an aged white tea base — this is an O2H-original variant.

How do I brew White Serenity for best flavour?

Place one whole fruit in a 200–300ml teapot or gaiwan. Pour 90–95°C water over it, rinse for 5 seconds and discard, then steep 1–2 minutes for the first drinkable infusion. White tea extracts slower than pu-erh, so longer steeps than the standard Xiao Qing Gan method. Re-steeps 5–7 times; add 30 seconds per infusion. One fruit brews 1.2–1.5L total.

Can I drink White Serenity before bed?

For most healthy adults, yes — aged white tea has notably lower caffeine than other real teas, typically under 15mg per cup. If you're caffeine-sensitive or have a sleep disorder, drink it 2–3 hours before sleep or choose a caffeine-free option like chenpi alone. A short first infusion (under 1 minute) pulls less caffeine if you want to soften it further.

What does White Serenity taste like?

The first infusion leads with fresh tangerine peel and a soft honeyed note from the aged white tea. By the third or fourth brew the citrus recedes and the aged white character — honey, dried hay, a touch of stone fruit — dominates. It's the most delicate and the most contemplative of our Xiao Qing Gan family, designed for slow drinking rather than morning energy.

How should I store White Serenity?

Keep in an airtight container away from light, moisture, and strong odours. 15–25°C stable temperature. Aged white tea continues to develop flavour over time, so proper storage can deepen it further over 1–2 years. Once you've opened the package, consume within 12–18 months for peak tangerine aromatics (the white tea continues ageing longer).

At O2H Tea, we take pride in crafting exceptional teas like our Tangerine tea. During the aging process, you may notice a delicate 'hoarfrost' on the surface, also known as 'orange citrus oil.' This natural phenomenon is a result of the citrus oil precipitating after a sun-dried or low-temperature baking process. Rest assured, it's not mildew and poses no harm to your health. In fact, it's a testament to the quality and authenticity of our tea, enhancing its flavor and character.
