Lychee Believer is our lychee black tea — sweet, juicy, and unmistakably tropical. A Chinese black tea base scented with real lychee, producing a cup that tastes like ripe lychee fruit rather than lychee-flavoured syrup. One of our most universally-loved blends.

Lychee and black tea is a signature pairing in southern Chinese tea culture (known as "lizhi hong cha"). The naturally honeyed character of good black tea amplifies lychee's tropical sweetness; the tea stays the frame, the lychee adds scent. Our version uses premium black tea base so the body holds up to the sweetness without becoming syrupy.

Flavour: Ripe lychee, honey, malty black tea body, long sweet finish
Aroma: Fresh lychee fruit with warm tea depth
Caffeine: Medium–high (black tea base)
Pairs well with: Afternoons, fruit desserts, champagne, dim sum

How to brew: 95°C water, 3 minutes. Excellent iced — cold brew overnight for naturally sweet iced tea that doesn't need added sugar. Re-steeps 2–3 times hot.

Lychee Believer is often the "gateway tea" for people who've never enjoyed black tea — the lychee sweetness makes it instantly approachable. Gift-worthy without being overthought. For a contrasting stone-fruit blend, try Peach Mountain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is lychee black tea naturally sweet or is sugar added?

Naturally sweet — no sugar added. The sweetness comes from real lychee fruit scenting the tea leaves. Lychee as a fruit is naturally very sweet (honeyed, floral), and that character transfers cleanly to the tea. If you want a sweet-tasting tea without actually adding sugar, Lychee Believer is one of the best choices.

How do I brew Lychee Believer?

95°C water, 3 minutes first infusion. Black tea is forgiving — longer steeps bring out more tea character, shorter steeps emphasise the lychee. Try both ways. Re-steeps 2–3 times hot; alternatively cold-brew overnight (1 teaspoon leaf per 250ml cold water, 6–8 hours in the fridge) for naturally sweet iced tea.

What's the caffeine in Lychee Believer?

Medium–high: roughly 40–55mg per 250ml cup, typical of black tea. Morning or afternoon drink. The tropical sweetness makes it feel less "strong" than an English breakfast cup, but the caffeine content is similar.

Is Lychee Believer good for people new to black tea?

It's one of our best "gateway" teas for that reason. The lychee sweetness softens black tea's astringency, which is the element that puts some new drinkers off. If you've never enjoyed plain black tea, Lychee Believer might be where it finally clicks for you.

What foods pair well with Lychee Believer?

Fruit desserts (especially stone fruits, mango, passionfruit), coconut-based sweets, dim sum, champagne-style cocktails (try it as a base for a tea-champagne spritz), and anything with ginger. Avoid pairing with heavy chocolate — the chocolate overwhelms the lychee.
